We run multiple AliExpress accounts for product testing, and we have dealt with nearly every account issue that exists. Two of our accounts were disabled last year, one for opening too many disputes during a batch of defective products, the other flagged for “unusual activity” after we logged in from a new device while traveling. Both were restored through support within 5 days. We also hit registration blocks twice when setting up new testing accounts from the same office IP. The fixes were straightforward once we understood what AliExpress actually tracks.

Why you might not be able to create an account

AliExpress blocks new registrations when it detects:

TriggerWhy it happens
Email already registeredYour email is linked to an existing AliExpress account (even if you forgot about it)
Phone number already in useOne phone number can only be linked to one account
Temporary/disposable emailAliExpress rejects many throwaway email providers
Too many registration attemptsMultiple failed attempts from the same IP triggers a cooldown
VPN or proxy detectedAliExpress blocks many VPN IP ranges
Flagged IP addressShared WiFi, office networks, or previously flagged IPs can be blocked
Device previously used for a banned accountAliExpress tracks device fingerprints

Quick fixes for registration problems:

  1. Use a different email address (Gmail, Outlook, or your own domain work reliably)
  2. Try the AliExpress mobile app instead of the website (app registrations often succeed when the website fails)
  3. Switch from WiFi to mobile data (this gives you a different IP)
  4. Disable any VPN or proxy
  5. Format your phone number correctly: country code + number with no spaces or parentheses (example: +15551234567)

Email, phone, or social login: which registration method to use

AliExpress offers several ways to create an account. Each has trade-offs.

MethodAdvantagesDisadvantages
Email + passwordMost stable; easy password recoveryRequires verification step
Phone numberFast registrationDifficult to recover if you lose the number
Google accountOne-click loginCreates a separate account; mixing login methods causes confusion
Facebook accountOne-click loginCreates a separate account; Facebook login issues affect AliExpress access
Apple IDOne-click login“Hide My Email” feature causes verification problems; AliExpress has intermittently dropped Apple login support

Our recommendation: Register with email. It is the most reliable for long-term account access and password recovery. If you use social login and later try to log in with email (or vice versa), AliExpress treats these as separate accounts. This is the most common reason people think their account “disappeared.”

Apple ID warning: If you used Apple’s “Hide My Email” option, your AliExpress account is linked to a @privaterelay.appleid.com address. Verification emails may not forward properly. If you run into problems, see our guide on changing your AliExpress email for the workaround.

How to fix verification problems

If the verification email does not arrive:

  1. Check spam/junk folder (search for “AliExpress” or “verification”)
  2. Add AliExpress to your email’s safe sender list
  3. Wait 5-10 minutes before requesting another code
  4. Try a different email provider if repeated attempts fail

If the SMS verification code does not arrive:

  1. Confirm your phone can receive international SMS (some carriers block them)
  2. Check that you entered the phone number in the correct format: +[country code][number]
  3. Switch between WiFi and mobile data
  4. Restart your phone
  5. Try a different phone number if possible

“Too Many Attempts” error:

AliExpress locks verification requests after multiple rapid attempts. Wait 30-60 minutes, clear your browser cookies, and try again. Repeatedly retrying extends the lockout.

How to recover your AliExpress password

  1. Go to the login screen
  2. Click “Forgot Password?”
  3. Enter your email address or phone number
  4. Choose verification via email or SMS
  5. Enter the code sent to you
  6. Create a new password

Phone number format for recovery:

If you registered with a phone number, enter it as: CountryCode + Number (no spaces, no parentheses)

Example: +15551234567

Formatting errors are the most common reason phone-based recovery fails.

Why AliExpress disables accounts

AliExpress disables accounts automatically when certain triggers are detected:

ReasonDescription
Excessive disputesOpening many disputes in a short period, especially if some are denied
Dispute abuseFiling false claims, claiming non-delivery when tracking shows delivered
Multiple accountsUsing the same device, IP, phone, or payment method across multiple accounts
Unpaid ordersRepeatedly creating orders and not paying for them
Seller manipulationThreatening sellers with bad reviews to get discounts
Review fraudCreating fake positive reviews (often via multiple accounts)
Payment issuesChargebacks, declined payments, or suspicious payment methods
Security flagsLogging in from many different IPs or devices in a short time
Terms of Service violationsAny activity that violates AliExpress buyer rules

Sometimes accounts are disabled by automated systems without intentional misuse. Logging in while traveling, using a new device, or having a payment fail can trigger false positives.

Partial account restrictions (can shop but can’t dispute, follow, or play games)

Not all restrictions are full account blocks. AliExpress has a “partial restriction” status where:

  • You can still log in and browse
  • You can still place orders
  • You cannot open disputes
  • You cannot follow stores or users
  • You cannot participate in games or coupon activities
  • You may not be able to leave reviews

This happens when AliExpress detects a rule violation but does not disable the account entirely. Common causes:

  • Opening too many disputes (even legitimate ones)
  • Suspicious coupon activity
  • Review patterns that look like manipulation

How to tell if you have a partial restriction:

Try to open a dispute on an old order or follow a store. If you see error messages like “For security reasons this process cannot be continued” or “You are not authorized,” your account is partially restricted.

How to fix it:

Contact AliExpress support. Partial restrictions can only be lifted by their team. Explain your situation and ask for the restriction to be reviewed. Be prepared to wait 3-7 days for a response.

How to recover a disabled account

Check your email

AliExpress almost always sends an email explaining why the account was restricted. Look for messages from AliExpress Support. The email usually includes the reason and, if applicable, steps to appeal.

Look for an “Unlock Account” or “Appeal” option

Log in to your account (if possible). If a message appears explaining the restriction, there may be a button to appeal or unlock. Click it and follow the instructions. You may be asked to upload identity documents (passport or ID card photo).

Contact customer support

If there is no appeal option or your appeal was denied:

Ask for account reactivation

  • Go to the AliExpress Help Center
  • Click “Online Service” or “Chat with Eva”
  • Type “talk to agent” or “real person” to escalate to a human
  • Explain what happened and provide your account email, order numbers if relevant, and any error messages you see

Support can often restore mistakenly flagged accounts within 3-5 business days after verifying your identity.

Do not create a new account immediately

AliExpress tracks:

  • IP address
  • Device fingerprint (browser, operating system, screen resolution, etc.)
  • Phone number
  • Email patterns
  • Payment methods

Creating a new account with overlapping data can get the new account blocked immediately. Wait until support responds before trying to create a fresh account.

IP address, device, and fingerprint blocking (what AliExpress tracks)

This is something competitors do not explain clearly, but it matters if you need to create a new account after a ban.

AliExpress does not just block your email or phone number. It also tracks:

Data pointWhat it means
IP addressYour internet connection’s public IP. Shared WiFi (offices, universities, public networks) can be flagged if another user on the same network was banned
Device fingerprintA combination of your browser, operating system, screen resolution, installed fonts, and other technical details that create a unique identifier
Cookies and local storageData stored in your browser from previous AliExpress sessions
Payment methodCredit/debit cards linked to banned accounts may be flagged
Phone numberNumbers used for verification on banned accounts

If you need to register a new account after a permanent ban:

  • Use a different email address
  • Use a different phone number
  • Use a different device (or at minimum, a different browser with no AliExpress cookies)
  • Use a different network (mobile data instead of the WiFi the old account used)
  • Use a different payment method
  • Wait at least 24-48 hours after the ban before attempting

This is not a guarantee. AliExpress may still detect patterns if the same person is registering. But these steps address the technical tracking mechanisms.

Common account errors and quick solutions

Error messageMeaningFix
“Account Not Available”Account is suspendedCheck email for explanation; contact support
“You Are Not Authorized”Session/cookie issue, not a banClear cookies, try another browser, use the mobile app, disable VPN
“Too Many Attempts”Temporary lockout from login/verificationWait 30-60 minutes, clear cookies, try again
“Account Temporarily Unavailable”Under review or verificationWait for email from AliExpress; may need to upload ID documents
Can’t follow shops or usersPartial restrictionContact support; only they can lift this
Can’t play games or get couponsPartial restriction or security flagTry a different device; contact support if it persists
Verification code not receivedEmail/SMS delivery issueCheck spam, wait and retry, try different contact method

How to contact AliExpress support

  1. Go to the AliExpress Help Center (link at the bottom of any AliExpress page)
  2. Click “Online Service” or “Chat with Eva”
  3. Type your issue or select a category
  4. To reach a human agent, type “talk to agent” or “real person”
  5. Explain your situation clearly and provide account details

If the chat option is missing:

Some blocked accounts cannot access the normal support chat. In this case:

  • Clear your browser cookies
  • Try using a different IP (mobile data, different network)
  • Use the Tor browser or a VPN to access the help center
  • Log in with a different account (if you have one) and contact support on behalf of your blocked account

Preventing future account problems

Rules to follow if you want to keep your account in good standing:

  1. Do not open disputes excessively. Even legitimate disputes can trigger flags if you open many in a short period. Space them out when possible.
  2. Do not leave orders unpaid. Unpaid orders reserved by you prevent other buyers from purchasing. Repeated unpaid orders flag your account.
  3. Do not manipulate reviews. Threatening sellers with bad reviews to get discounts, or creating fake positive reviews, leads to bans.
  4. Use one account. AliExpress allows one account per person. Multiple accounts using the same device, IP, or payment method will be detected and banned.
  5. Keep your contact information current. Make sure you have access to the email and phone number on your account. Update them if they change.
  6. Use your real name and accurate shipping details. Mismatched information between payment methods and shipping addresses can trigger fraud flags.

New user benefits

If you are creating a new account for the first time, AliExpress offers:

  • New user coupons (discount on first purchase)
  • $0.01 promotional items (limited selection for first orders)
  • Exclusive first-order deals
  • Invite-a-friend rewards (both you and the friend get coupons)

These offers are available immediately after registration and typically expire within 7-30 days.

Final thoughts

Most account creation problems come down to IP/device issues or previously used contact information. Switching to mobile data, using the app instead of the website, and ensuring your phone number format is correct solves the majority of registration failures.

For disabled accounts, the path is straightforward: check your email for the reason, look for an appeal option, and contact support if needed. We have recovered two disabled testing accounts this way, both within a week. The key is providing clear information and being patient with the support process.

FAQ

1. Why can’t I verify my identity when AliExpress asks for documents?

Document uploads fail when photos are blurry, files exceed the size limit, or formats are unsupported. Use a clear photo (JPG or PNG), ensure your name matches your account details, and do not crop important parts of the ID.

2. Can I change my registered email or phone number after creating my account?

Yes, in Account Settings. AliExpress may require identity verification before allowing the change. If you no longer have access to your old email or phone, contact customer service for manual review.

3. Why am I getting a “Too Many Attempts” error when trying to log in?

AliExpress temporarily blocks access after multiple failed login attempts. Wait 30-60 minutes, clear your cookies and cache, and try again. Avoid rapid retries, as this extends the lockout.

4. Does using a VPN affect registration or login?

Yes. AliExpress blocks many VPN IP ranges. If you face issues, disable your VPN and use a standard connection or mobile data.

5. Can I merge two different AliExpress accounts into one?

No. AliExpress does not offer account merging. Each account is independent with its own login, order history, and coupons. If one account becomes inaccessible, you must recover it or use a different one.
