We manage multiple AliExpress accounts for product testing, and we have changed the email on three of them over the past year. The process itself takes about 2 minutes when everything works. But we also ran into two situations that made it significantly harder: one account was registered through Apple “Sign in with Apple” (which hid the real email behind a relay address), and another had a verification code that took over 20 minutes to arrive. Both problems are fixable, and this guide covers them along with the standard process.

How to change your email on AliExpress (desktop)

The email change requires two-step verification: one code to confirm your current email, one code to confirm the new one. Both must succeed.

Open account settings

Log in to AliExpress → Click “My AliExpress” → Go to “Account Settings” or “Profile Settings” → Select “Modify Preferences” → Click “Change my email address”

Verify your current email

AliExpress sends a 6-digit code to the email currently linked to your account. Enter this code to prove you are the account owner.

Enter and verify your new email

Type your new email address. AliExpress sends a second 6-digit code to this new address. Enter it, and the change is complete.

After the update, all account communications go to the new email: order alerts, shipping updates, payment confirmations, dispute notifications, coupon messages, and password recovery links.

One restriction: if the new email is already registered to another AliExpress account, the system rejects it. You would need to delete that other account first or use a different email address.

How to change email on the AliExpress mobile app

The app allows email changes, but the navigation is slightly different.

  1. Open the AliExpress app
  2. Tap “Account” (bottom right)
  3. Tap the gear icon (top right) to open Settings
  4. Tap “Profile”
  5. Tap your current email address
  6. Complete the same two-step verification (code to old email, code to new email)

Changes made in the app sync immediately to the desktop version and vice versa.

Verification code not arriving (troubleshooting)

This is the most common point where the process stalls. We experienced it ourselves: on one account, the code took 22 minutes to arrive, and on another, it went to the spam folder despite AliExpress being a known sender.

ProblemFix
Code not in inboxCheck spam/junk folder; AliExpress emails often get filtered
Code arrives after 10-20 minutesWait; do not request multiple codes rapidly
“Code request limit reached” messageStop requesting. Wait 24 hours before trying again
Code expired by the time it arrivedRequest a new one; codes are valid for a limited time
Wrong email inbox being checkedConfirm which email is on your account via Account Settings → Profile

AliExpress limits how many verification codes you can request in a short period. If you request 5-6 codes within a few minutes, the system locks you out for 24 hours. This is a security measure, not a bug. The solution is to request one code, wait up to 30 minutes, and only request another if the first truly does not arrive.

If codes consistently fail to arrive to a specific email provider, try changing from a desktop browser (which tends to be more reliable for this process than the mobile app).

Signed up with Apple, Google, or Facebook? How to change your email

This is a problem that catches a lot of users off guard, and no standard guide covers it well.

If you registered for AliExpress using “Sign in with Apple,” “Sign in with Google,” or “Sign in with Facebook,” your AliExpress account may not be linked to your actual email address.

Apple “Hide My Email” (the biggest problem):

Apple’s “Sign in with Apple” feature gives users the option to hide their real email. When you choose this, Apple creates a random relay address (ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com) and links it to your AliExpress account. AliExpress sees only this relay address, not your real one.

This causes problems when:

  • You need to verify your email to change account settings
  • You need to receive a verification code but the relay does not forward it
  • AliExpress drops support for “Sign in with Apple” (this has happened intermittently), locking you out entirely
  • You try to reset your password but codes go to the relay address

How to fix it:

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID → Find AliExpress
  2. Check that email forwarding is turned on. If it is on and emails still are not arriving, try toggling it off and back on
  3. Check that the forwarding destination is an email you actually use (Settings → [Your Name] → Name, Phone Numbers, Email → Forward To)

If the relay simply will not forward verification codes (a common complaint in Apple Community forums), the only reliable fix is to contact AliExpress support directly:

  • Log into AliExpress from a different account or have someone contact support on your behalf
  • Tell the agent you need to change the email on your account and cannot receive verification codes
  • They will ask for your shipping address, last order numbers, and the card used for recent purchases to verify your identity
  • AliExpress will manually change your email within 1-2 business days and notify you by email

Google and Facebook logins:

These typically link your actual email address, so the change process is straightforward. Log in, go to Account Settings, and follow the standard email change steps. The linked email should be visible in your profile.

If you cannot find your email, go to Account Settings → Profile → look next to “Email Address” or check your Member ID page. Your registered email is displayed there.

What if you registered with the wrong email

If you made a typo during registration and cannot access the email linked to your account, you are stuck. The email change process requires verifying the old email first, which is impossible if you never had access to it.

Your options:

SituationSolution
Typo in email, never placed an orderCreate a new account with the correct email
Typo in email, have pending ordersContact AliExpress support with order numbers and identity verification; they may be able to change it manually
Old email account was deleted/deactivatedTry recovering the old email through its provider first; if impossible, contact AliExpress support

Creating a new account is the fastest option if you have no order history worth keeping. Do it before placing orders so you do not lose shipping alerts or refund notifications later.

How to manage email notifications

After changing your email, review your notification settings. AliExpress sends multiple categories of emails, and you can control each one independently.

Go to Account Settings → Email Notifications

Notification typeWhat it coversOur recommendation
Messages from sellersSeller responses to your inquiriesKeep on
Order payment confirmationPayment receipt for each orderKeep on
Order cancellation noticesAlerts when orders are canceledKeep on
Shipping updatesTracking and delivery status changesKeep on
Promotional emailsSales, coupons, product recommendationsTurn off unless you want them

We keep all four transactional categories active and turn off promotional emails. The transactional ones are essential for tracking orders and catching problems early. The promotional emails are frequent (sometimes daily) and mostly duplicates of what you see on the app home screen.

What happens after you change your email

A few things to be aware of once the change goes through:

  • All future emails from AliExpress go to the new address immediately
  • Your login credentials update: you now log in with the new email + your existing password
  • Old emails already sent to your previous address stay there; they do not transfer
  • If you used the old email for password recovery, that now points to the new email
  • Active disputes, orders, and wish lists are not affected by the email change
  • If you have the AliExpress app, you may need to log out and log back in for the change to reflect

How to recover your password if you cannot log in

If you need to change your email but cannot remember your password:

  1. Go to the AliExpress login page
  2. Click “Forgot Password?”
  3. Choose email or SMS verification
  4. Enter the verification code
  5. Set a new password
  6. Log in and proceed with the email change

If you no longer have access to both your email and phone number on the account, contact AliExpress support. They will verify your identity through other means (order history, payment method, shipping address).

How to delete your AliExpress account

If you want to close the account entirely instead of changing the email:

  1. Go to Account Settings → Edit Member Profile
  2. Confirm deletion by entering your email address
  3. Provide a reason for deletion

Before deleting, keep in mind:

  • All order history is permanently erased
  • Wish lists and saved coupons disappear
  • The account cannot be recovered once deleted
  • Complete any active disputes or pending refunds first; these cannot be resolved after deletion
  • You cannot register a new account with the same email immediately in all cases

Final thoughts

The standard email change takes about 2 minutes and works without issues for most people. The two situations where it gets complicated are social login accounts (particularly Apple’s “Hide My Email”) and delayed verification codes. For social login problems, contacting support directly is often faster than trying to work around the relay system. For delayed codes, patience and requesting only one code at a time avoids the 24-hour lockout.

We changed emails on three of our testing accounts without losing any order data, disputes, or wish list items. The process does not affect anything except where your notifications go.

FAQ

1. Can I change my AliExpress email without access to the old one?

Not through the standard process. The email change requires a verification code sent to your current email. If you cannot access it, contact AliExpress support with your order history, shipping address, and payment details for manual verification.

2. I signed up with Apple’s “Hide My Email” and cannot receive verification codes. What do I do?

Check your iPhone settings: Settings → [Your Name] → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID → AliExpress. Make sure forwarding is on and pointing to an email you check. If codes still do not arrive, contact AliExpress support to change your email manually.

3. How long does the verification code take to arrive?

Usually under 5 minutes. In some cases, codes take 10-30 minutes. Check your spam folder and do not request multiple codes rapidly, as AliExpress limits code requests and may lock you out for 24 hours.

4. Will changing my email affect my orders or disputes?

No. Active orders, disputes, wish lists, coupons, and order history remain intact. Only the email address for notifications and login changes.

5. Can I use an email that is already linked to another AliExpress account?

No. Each email address can only be connected to one AliExpress account. You would need to delete the other account first or use a different email.
