Opening a dispute on AliExpress is the main way buyers can request a refund when something is wrong with an order—whether it arrived damaged, wasn’t delivered, or didn’t match the seller’s description. But what happens if you cancel a dispute and later want to open another one? Or if the first dispute wasn’t handled the way you expected?
A second dispute can be opened, but only under specific conditions. Below you’ll find a clear explanation of when it’s possible, how to do it step-by-step, and what limitations you should be aware of.
Can You Open a Second Dispute on AliExpress?
Yes—but only if your first dispute was canceled, not resolved.
That means:
- You clicked “Cancel Dispute,” and the case closed without a decision,
OR
- The seller convinced you to close it before AliExpress stepped in.
If your first dispute was already accepted, rejected, or auto-closed by AliExpress, you cannot open a second one. At that point, your only option is to leave feedback about the seller.
When Are You Allowed to Cancel the First Dispute?
You may cancel a dispute at any moment as long as it has not been resolved yet.
You cannot cancel it if:
- You already accepted the seller’s proposal
- AliExpress has already issued a final decision
- The system closed it automatically due to no response
Once the dispute is officially resolved, no second dispute can be opened.
When Is It Too Late to File a Second Dispute?
You can open a second dispute only if:
- Your buyer protection is still active,
OR
- No more than 15 days have passed since protection expired / the order was marked “delivered”
After this grace period, AliExpress will no longer allow any dispute to be filed.
How to File a Second Dispute on AliExpress
If Using a Computer
Go to Account → My Orders
Find the order in question and click “Order Details”
If your first dispute is still present:
- Click “Dispute in Progress” → “Cancel Dispute”
- After canceling, return to the order details page
- Click “Open Dispute” to start a fresh claim
If the button does not appear, the protection period has expired, and a second dispute is no longer possible.
If Using the AliExpress App
Tap Account → Orders → View All
Choose the relevant order
If your first dispute is still open:
- Tap “Dispute in Progress” → “Cancel Dispute”
Tap “Open Dispute” to file it again
After cancellation, return to the order page
Will AliExpress Give the Same Decision Again?
Not necessarily.
Because:
- A different AliExpress agent may review your case
- You can upload new or stronger evidence
- The seller might change their position
Many buyers actually win the second dispute when the first was weak or incomplete.
Do You Risk Your Account by Opening a Second Dispute?
No—opening a second dispute is completely allowed.
However, AliExpress can penalize accounts for:
- Fake disputes
- Abusive refund requests
- Threatening or blackmailing sellers
- Having multiple accounts to exploit coupons
- Fraudulent behavior
But filing a legitimate dispute—even twice—is safe.
What If You Already Accepted the First Decision?
Unfortunately, then a second dispute is not possible.
AliExpress considers the case permanently closed.
Your only options are:
- Leave an honest review
- Report the seller
- Contact support to ask for clarification (rarely successful)
Should You Contact AliExpress Support if You’re Unsure?
Yes. If you’re unsure whether a second dispute is allowed for your order, you can speak to an AliExpress agent via online chat.
An agent can check:
- Whether your protection is still active
- If the dispute window is still open
- Whether you canceled the first dispute correctly
