You clicked Buy. Now what? Most buyers have no idea what AliExpress order statuses actually mean — or what to do when something goes wrong. We’ve placed and tracked hundreds of orders across years of product testing, and the single biggest mistake we see is buyers either confirming receipt too early or missing the dispute window entirely. This guide walks you through every step, from finding your order list to protecting yourself if a package never shows up.

How to Access ‘My Orders’ on AliExpress

Your order dashboard is always one or two taps away — here’s exactly where to find it on both platforms.

From the AliExpress App

  1. Open the app and log into your account.
  2. Tap My Account in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Your orders appear sorted into: Unpaid, To Be Shipped, and Shipped.
  4. Tap View All next to “My Orders” to see your complete purchase history.

From the AliExpress Website

  1. Go to aliexpress.com and log in.
  2. Hover over your name in the top-right corner.
  3. Click My Orders from the dropdown menu.
  4. Use the status tabs at the top to filter by order stage.

Our tip: Bookmark your My Orders page directly. When tracking several orders at once, it saves a lot of time compared to navigating from the homepage every time.

Understanding AliExpress Order Statuses

Every order sits in one of four statuses. Knowing what each means — and what action to take — prevents costly mistakes.

Order StatusWhat It MeansWhat to Do
Awaiting PaymentOrder placed, payment not completedPay now or cancel the order
Awaiting ShipmentSeller preparing your packageExtend time or contact seller if needed
ShippedPackage on its way to youTrack order — do NOT confirm receipt yet
FinishedOrder completed or protection expiredLeave review or open dispute within 15 days

Awaiting Payment

You started a checkout but didn’t complete payment. AliExpress holds the order briefly, then auto-cancels it. Click Pay Now to complete the purchase or Cancel Order if you’ve changed your mind.

Awaiting Shipment

The seller has received your order and is preparing it. A countdown timer shows how long they have left. Two actions matter here:

  • Extend Processing Time — use this during major sales like 11.11 when sellers get overwhelmed. Only extend if you still want the item.
  • Contact Seller — if you entered the wrong address, size, or color, message the seller immediately. Once an order ships, corrections are nearly impossible.

Shipped

Critical: do not confirm receipt yet. This is the most common and costly mistake we see. Clicking “Confirm Receipt” releases your payment to the seller and ends buyer protection immediately — even if the package hasn’t arrived. Only click it after the parcel is in your hands and you have checked everything is correct.

Finished

The order closed, either because you confirmed receipt or buyer protection expired automatically. You still have a 15-day window after completion to open a dispute if you discover a problem. Do not let this deadline pass unnoticed.

How to Track Your AliExpress Shipment

Once your order ships, the Track Order button becomes your main tool. Tap it to access:

  • Tracking Number — copy this to 17Track or ParcelsApp for more granular carrier updates than AliExpress’s built-in tracker provides.
  • Logistics Timeline — a full scan history from the seller’s warehouse through to your local carrier.
  • Estimated Delivery Date — treat this as a rough guide, not a guarantee. Customs processing and local carrier delays frequently shift the actual date.

From our testing: 17Track gives more detailed scan updates than AliExpress’s built-in tracker, especially for packages passing through multiple countries. We check it for every order over $15.

Key Order Management Actions

Opening a Dispute

A dispute is AliExpress’s formal resolution process. Open one when:

  • Your package didn’t arrive within the buyer protection period.
  • The item arrived broken, faulty, or significantly different from the listing.
  • You received the wrong item or an incomplete order.

Always message the seller first. AliExpress considers whether you attempted a direct resolution. If the seller doesn’t respond or refuses to help within 3 to 5 days, escalate to a formal dispute. Go to the order, click Open Dispute, describe the problem, propose a solution, and attach your evidence.

Extending Buyer Protection

Every order includes a buyer protection period of 60 to 90 days. If the period is about to end and your package hasn’t arrived, open the order details and request an extension. AliExpress grants this without requiring a reason. We’ve used this on slow sea-freight orders several times — it works cleanly and buys you the time you need.

Final Thoughts

The My Orders section gives you full visibility and control over every purchase — but only if you know when to act. Two rules we follow without exception after hundreds of orders: never confirm receipt until the package is in hand and checked, and never let buyer protection expire on an order with a problem.

If you do nothing else, remember this: your dispute window is your most powerful protection tool on AliExpress. Use it before it closes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find an old order on AliExpress?

Go to My Orders and scroll down through your history, or use the search bar within the order list to filter by product name, seller, or order number.

Can I cancel an AliExpress order after it ships?

No. Once the seller marks the order as shipped, cancellation is no longer possible. Wait for delivery and open a dispute if there is a problem.

What happens if I accidentally click Confirm Receipt?

Buyer protection ends immediately and the payment is released. If there’s a problem with the item, you have a 15-day post-completion window to open a dispute, but the chances of a full refund are lower.

How long does AliExpress take to resolve a dispute?

Typically 3 to 15 business days, depending on case complexity and seller response speed. Disputes with clear photo or video evidence resolve faster.

What does AliExpress buyer protection actually cover?

Non-delivery, items significantly not as described, and defective products — provided you open a dispute before the protection period expires.
