Skeleton watches got popular with men first, and for a long time the women’s options were either shrunken-down versions of men’s models or cheap novelty pieces with a cutout dial and no real movement underneath. That has changed. The affordable Chinese brands that dominate AliExpress have caught up, and you can now find automatic mechanical skeleton watches built specifically for smaller wrists, in case sizes between 33mm and 36mm, at prices that would have been impossible five years ago.
Most of the watches below use genuine automatic self-winding movements, which means the gears you see through the dial are actually running the watch, not just decorative. A few use quartz movements with an open-cut dial for the aesthetic without the mechanics. I’ve noted which is which in each entry.
AliExpress is the cheapest source for all of these. The same models appear on Amazon, usually at a 20-40% markup. Delivery time varies by seller.

What to look for in a women’s skeleton watch
Case size. Most women’s skeleton watches on AliExpress sit between 30mm and 36mm. The CIGA Design C Series at 40mm is the outlier here and wears closer to a unisex or small men’s size. If you have a narrow wrist, stick to the 33-34mm options from OLEVS and CHENXI.
Movement type. Every automatic watch in this list winds itself through wrist movement. If the watch sits unworn for 40+ hours it will stop and need to be reset by hand-winding the crown. Quartz skeleton watches (not in this list) stay accurate regardless but the dial cutout is purely decorative as there is no visible mechanical movement underneath.
Crystal material. The CIGA Design C Series and the OLEVS diamond models use sapphire crystal, which is the hardest watchglass material available and resists scratching well. The CHENXI and FORSINING models use Hardlex mineral glass, which is more scratch-prone but far cheaper to replace if damaged.
Water resistance. The OLEVS 33mm models vary between 30M and 50M depending on the variant. The CHENXI and FORSINING models are rated for daily waterproofing only, meaning hand washing and rain are fine, but none should be worn swimming or submerging.
